Cao, tell us about your career and how you discovered LEMO

I am from Shanghai – I was born and raised here and did all my studies. My first job was in assembly: I worked as an operator assembling motherboards for a computer manufacturer. I discovered LEMO, who had set up a subsidiary in my city in 2005, simply through web job search. I joined the company in 2007 as a cable assembly operator.

How has your position changed and what is your role today?

Progressing was very important for me and LEMO gave me this opportunity. After my first year, I already started overseeing operators. I supervised a team of 5 people then and I oversee 81 people today! My current work is built around three pillars: management, communication (with the seven team leaders, the engineers …) and coordination. I like it very much, because it is demanding and very challenging, particularly in terms of adaptation: we produce custom solutions, so there are always new processes, new materials to integrate. To give you an idea: we add 3,000 part numbers every year.
