High Density Connectors
As electronic device architectures continue to shrink, the demand for sophisticated miniaturisation strategies has never been higher. Engineers across the medical, aerospace, and motorsport sectors face the persistent challenge of increasing signal and power capacity within a diminishing footprint. At LEMO, we address these complexities by engineering high-performance interconnect solutions that refuse to compromise between density and reliability.
Choosing a high density connector is no longer just about pin count; it is about managing signal transmission integrity and mechanical stability in harsh environments. Whether you are developing a portable medical diagnostic tool or a high-speed data acquisition system for motorsport, our solutions provide the precision required to ensure performance when it matters most.

High density connector series for rugged and precision applications
LEMO offers a diverse range of high density connector series, each designed to meet the unique rigours of different technical landscapes. From ultra-compact micro-miniature designs to high-performance instrumentation standards, our portfolio supports a wide array of multipole requirements.
M series
Ruggedised density for aerospace and motorsport applications:
The M series represents the pinnacle of rugged miniaturisation. Designed for aerospace and motorsport, these connectors offer a ratchet coupling mechanism that ensures vibration resistance in the most demanding environments. Despite their small shell size, M series connectors can accommodate a high pin count, making them the preferred choice for sensors and electronic control units where space is at a premium. The use of high-grade materials such as PEEK ensures long-term durability and stability under extreme thermal and mechanical stress.
B and K series
High pin counts for precision medical instrumentation:
For medical instrumentation and precision electronic equipment, the B and K series provide the industry-standard Push-Pull self-latching system. These series are renowned for their reliability and ease of use in critical applications. With multipole configurations reaching up to 106 contacts in a single shell, they offer exceptional contact density. The K series adds an additional layer of protection with an IP68 rating (Ingress Protection), ensuring signal stability over many years even when exposed to liquids or moisture during sterilisation or outdoor use.
00 series
Ultra-compact solutions for maximum panel density
The 00 series is the smallest connector in the LEMO range, serving as the original miniature solution for instrumentation. When panel density is the primary engineering constraint, the 00 series allows for a high number of interfaces in a very limited area. This series is frequently utilised in test and measurement applications where multiple signal paths must be routed through a restricted architecture without sacrificing precision. They connectors are often built into data acquisition racks. Initially designed for NIM (Nuclear Instrument Module) and CAMAC (Computer Automated Measurement and Control), a 50 Ohm variant of the 00 series connectors is widely used by nuclear research centers and universities.
Technical criteria and performance factors
of LEMO high density connectors
Integrating a high density connector requires careful consideration of termination methods and mechanical stability. Our engineering teams work closely with you to ensure that the chosen configuration aligns with your PCB (Printed Circuit Board) layout and assembly processes.
Exceptional contact density relative to shell size
LEMO achieves exceptional contact density by utilising high-performance insulators, such as PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), which offer superior dielectric strength and precision. This allows us to place contacts closer together while maintaining required creepage and clearance distances to prevent arcing or signal interference. The result is a compact interface that delivers maximum data transmission capability.
Reliable termination methods for high-pole configurations
The termination method is critical when dealing with high pin counts. We offer several options to suit your manufacturing needs:
- Solder: Ideal for high-precision, low-volume assemblies where a permanent and robust connection is required.
- Crimp: Recommended for high-vibration applications, providing a consistent, gas-tight termination that enhances longevity.
- PCB: Straight or elbow contacts for direct integration into electronic architectures, optimising internal space.
In addition, at LEMO, our cable assembly operators follow industry standards such as WHMA-A-620 to manufacture complete wire harnesses and cable assemblies. Cutting, stripping, soldering, and assembling connectors onto wire ends hold no secrets for them.
Vibration resistance and signal stability in harsh environments
High density must not come at the expense of signal stability. In harsh environments, mechanical vibration can lead to intermittent signal loss. LEMO connectors are engineered with high-quality gold-plated contacts and robust locking mechanisms to ensure continuous performance. Our Swiss engineering heritage guarantees that every high density connector we produce maintains its mechanical and electrical integrity over thousands of mating cycles, providing the reliability your critical systems demand.
