New confirmed expiry dates for RoHS 2 Directive Exemptions, pushing the Lead-Free Deadline to June 30, 2027.

The European Commission has officially announced on September 8, 2025 that the current RoHS 2 Directive Exemption 6c, which allows the continued use of copper alloys containing up to 4% lead by weight, is extended until June 30, 2027.

This also means that the industry has until December 31, 2025 to submit a new renewal application request to potentially further extend this deadline.
At LEMO we are investing time and effort in making sure that our entire product portfolio remains compliant with EU RoHS requirements and that a complete switch to Lead-Free (<0,1%) materials will be executed before the end of the exemptions.
Already today LEMO is offering Lead-Free products on request to selected customers so they can reduce health and environmental risks without compromising performance and while maintaining full compatibility with their existing LEMO solutions. Contact your local LEMO representative if you have a need for a custom Lead-Free connector solution today.
